ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Abstracts can be submitted for the following topics and workshops:

  • Workshop 1 - UV and  Skin
  • Workshop 2 - Sunbeds and Legislation
  • Workshop 3 - Awareness Campaigns and Social Media
  • Workshop 4 - Behavioural Research

 

Abstracts submitted by fax, mail or e-mail are not accepted.

GUIDELINES FOR CONTENTS AND FORM OF ABSTRACTS

The abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific board. In order to make their work as efficient and the selection as objective as possible, the following guidelines must be observed.

Binding submission of abstracts
Abstracts should preferably be submitted online (deadline: 31 May 2013) by completing the abstract submission forms. An anonymous version (no authors and affiliations) must be attached as well. In addition it is also possible to upload the abstract as a file. After submitting the abstract, a reference number will be assigned to the abstract. Please click the confirmation button in order to receive an automatic confirmation email. Using the reference number it is possible to make modifications until the final abstract submission deadline. The organizers reserve the right to correct orthographical mistakes and to harmonize English spelling. Please use American English (setting available in your word processor).

Signatures / Agreement
Abstract submission via internet will only be accepted if all agreements are acknowledged. The authors thereby agree that they are responsible for the contents. The authors also guarantee that the abstract submitted reports unpublished results and that clinical studies have been done with approval of the ethics commission and that animal tests have been done with official permission from the proper authorities. Authors commit themselves to ensure that during the conference one of them will personally present the poster or oral presentation at the time indicated.

The list of authors should correspond to the requirements of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.icmje.org/ethical_1author.html). Please note that whenever results of surgery are presented the responsible surgeon(s) should be listed as author(s).

Publication
Abstracts should be submitted in clear and concise English and ready for publication no later than 31 May 2013. The abstracts will be published at the abstract book as submitted.

Presentation
For abstract presentation you can choose one of the following forms of presentation: oral or poster. You must also choose one of the topic categories listed. If the abstract is accepted but cannot be considered for oral presentation, the authors commit themselves to present their work as poster instead.

Structure of the abstract
The structure of the abstract must be as follows:
a. Objective (Aim of investigation)
b. Methods (Selection of study design, probands or animals, methods of investigation and data analysis)
c. Results (Results of research with specific data and statistical significance, if available)
d. Conclusion (Conclusions from the results obtained)


The text should be structured as follows:

  • Abstract title (no capital letters and no bold typed)
  • First name and surname of authors/co-authors, no academic degrees (max. five co-authors besides the main author)
  • Name and address of the institution in the respective language
  • Text, single-spaced, 11 font size, font: Arial, max. 2500 characters. Please do not include any figures and tables. Statements like "Results are under discussion" are not acceptable.

Instructions for Presentations
All speakers are requested to be at the registration counter at least 15 minutes before the session starts. Powerpoint presentations have to be checked at the media check, no later than one hour before the session starts, personal laptops will not be allowed. Speakers are kindly asked to strictly adhere to the allocated presentation time.

Poster Walk
Poster authors are responsible for setting up their poster at the beginning of the congress Wednesday, 11 Sept. 2013, 08.00-09.00 hrs. The posters have to be removed at the last day of the congress (Friday, 13 Sept. 2013, 13:00 hrs at the latest). The congress organization is not responsible for lost or damaged posters, which are not removed until Friday, 13 Sept. 2013, 13:00 hrs. The authors of the posters are requested to be present at their posters during the poster walk as indicated in the scientific programme.

Congress Language
The congress language will be English.
